Focus For Results
December 01, 2005
Holidays are a wonderful yet hectic time. With holiday events in full swing many times the exercise regimen suffers. Remember that any training is better than no training at all to keep you feeling and looking great...even ten minutes here and there will help you burn those calories from the holiday treats. To avoid overeating at the holiday parties try to eat something small before you go so you are less likely to over-indulge. Do not save up all day for the event that evening, this will slow your metabolism and leave you tempted.
Strength training is not a mind-less activity, it requires concentration and focus. When strength training you want to focus your attention on the muscle group you are working. This will help to ensure that you use proper technique to get the maximum results. It is fine to talk and socialize between sets but during your set your attention should be on each repetition, feeling each one. If you are concentrating yet still do not feel the exercise in the correct muscle group then you may be performing the exercise incorrectly or may need to use a slightly heavier weight.
