Winter Training Balance

February 01, 2006

During the warmer months we tend to focus our training around our favorite outdoor activities. You can use these colder months to balance your training and your body. Change up your strength training as well as your cardio to target the muscle groups and areas that you are not specifically developing during the summer. You can also focus on strengthening the muscles that support your body in your favorite activity to prepare you for the spring and summer. For example, biking and running can take a toll on the lower back so you can spend time during the winter to tighten and strength the core for those activities. Balancing your body will not only help to improve your performance but will also leave you less susceptible to injury in all activities.
