Hydration
July 15, 2006
With the summer heat and humidity, you must be careful exercising outdoors. You can be susceptible to dehydration, heat cramps, heat exhaustion and heat stroke. To prevent hear related illnesses be sure to remain hydrated. Drink water before, during, and after exercise. Try to exercise in the early morning, or evening, avoid the middle of the day. Pay attention to the air quality and avoid training outside on poor air quality days, especially if you have asthma. If at anytime you experience dizziness, nausea, headache, or rapid pulse, stop your activity immediately. Find a cool place and replenish your fluids. If your body temperature does not decrease then call your doctor. Take the proper precautions and you can continue to train safely throughout the summer.
