Posture
August 15, 2006
Many of us spend most of the day in a seated position whether it is driving in the car, sitting at a desk, eating, or watching TV. Proper body alignment is an important skill that comes with repeated practice. When seated your shoulders and hips should be aligned vertically. Also your hips and knees should be aligned horizontally. This may require propping your feet up on a stool, box, or stack of books to raise your knees high enough to be in line with your hips. Sit up straight with the core tight, this will help to strengthen and tighten the abs. This proper body alignment will help to reduce and prevent neck, shoulder, and back pain.
